Due to your generosity, St Brendan parish is headed back to North Carolina to help another community in need, to rebuild after the damage from hurricane Helene.
Saturday, November 2 through Monday November 4, St Brendan’s will send a team to help the community of Swannanoa, NC. This is one of the hardest hit areas. In Swannanoa we will help in rebuilding a community of 30 mobile homes that were gutted due to Helene’s flooding. These families have no flood insurance and now have no work and no money to purchase the needed building materials to rebuild their homes.
Thanks to your previous generous offering of your treasure, we are able to provide heaters for each house as well as fire safety equipment, and will purchase as much building material (like insulation, dry wall, and flooring) that we can.
To come and join us, you do NOT have to be skilled in reconstruction. There will be contractors to guide us in what we will be doing. We will be lifting heavy sheets of dry wall and operating drills, saws, and other tools. Due to the rough conditions, we ask that only adults (over 18) come on this trip.
Please bring a sleeping bag (we will sleep on the floor of a church’s social hall), an air mattress, pillow, tools for rebuilding, and any special food you may need.
If you would like to join us, please text or call Deacon Doug at 614-674-3461.
In Christ,
Deacon Doug Yglesias
