Our House System is a trademark program for Saint Brendan School. The primary purposes of the House System are to further the mission of the school by providing greater pastoral care to all our students, training and guiding our students in our six House pillars, and fostering a community that each student can truly call a home. Every student (K-8) is assigned to one of the four Houses. Our House System assures that students are embraced in the Saint Brendan Family while recognizing them for their individual gifts and talents. Our program enables us to strengthen the partnership of school, student, and parent in the development of each child that walks through our doors. No matter what House a student calls home, we are all committed to furthering the mission of Christ both in our community and in our world. To learn more about our House System, please feel free to reach out to our Head of Houses, Marguerite Arciaga, at marciaga@cdeducation.org.
Our House program works to foster the growth in leadership for all of our students. Each and every student has the opportunity to grow in this area by mentoring younger students, holding leadership positions in House and Mentor groups, planning House events, and learning leadership skills and techniques in our weekly group meetings.
Being our brother and sister’s keeper is a vital aspect of our House program. Each quarter we work to further this by asking our students to track the hours that they spend helping others in our community. In addition, we do group service projects each quarter in our House meetings. Our students are taught the benefits of serving those in need, and we empower our students to have service carry over to every aspect of their lives.
Building a strong family atmosphere is key to having a school that fosters love and support for our students. Our House program builds a support network of same-age peers, older peers, and staff members that will be there to help our students through their daily lives. Every student in our building will have a group that loves and accepts them for their unique talents. Weekly, we offer opportunities to grow closer to each other and to Christ in our House meetings. Every student has a HOME at Saint Brendan.
Faith is at the forefront of all that we do at Saint Brendan School. Each week our students will attend Mass with their House buddy, and they will also be exposed to prayer daily. Throughout the year, we will offer faith building opportunities in our Houses that help foster a stronger connection to Jesus Christ.
