The last month has been a testament to the beautiful, selfless serving that this care and consolation team provides to so many in our parish area. With such gratitude, here are some highlights:
The Ash Express ran to all of the facilities and homebound in our parish to provide communion services with ashes and help them begin their Lent as close to the way they remember as possible. It was an extra joy to bring ashes to those staff in the nursing facilities who could not get to Mass, but who joined their residents in fellowship. We also were blessed to have many of our non-Catholic brothers and sisters celebrate with us to begin this sacred season.
The Celebration of Life Luncheon team rallied quickly to help a parishioner who is recovering from a bone marrow transplant and has appetite only for soup. A large cooler plus a bag full of homemade frozen soups was delivered to her thanks to the generosity and love of our parish cooks.
Our homebound continue to receive the blessings of the Eucharist each week and often say how this gift gives them the strength for the day and week, while the consistent visits bring joy in an often lonely time.
Likewise our recipients of prayer shawls comment that they “feel better already” when they have the warmth and care of a handmade shawl wrapped around them. Tears of gratitude are common.
